Quality piece of equipment. It has pit zips which is a nice feature. Well made, lightweight, seems to function. Doesn't get better than this for 89$ delivered. Too many logos though. I don't like looking like a billboard for Mountain Hardwear. If MH wants to pay me wear it then fine, if not a small single logo would be fine. Overall a great product. Delivery was also a day early, thx.

This is likely THE jacket for normal east coast winter conditions. It should work in most in low activity (walking) down to 25 degrees F if you are wearing just a tee or two underneath, as long as you have gloves also. In this configuration you'll likely be on the edge of chilly but it will be tolerable. I compared it briefly to other jackets, and this seems like the best-in-class option for all-around purposes. For more intense exercise it could go cooler still and I could see myself wearing it for everything from hiking to skiing with varying underlayers. With underlayers, I think it should prove fine for general winter living down to 20*F with decent comfort, though I bet 15* is possible for some.

I do think the yellow logo is too large and colorful. On one hand I understand the co's need to brand, but I'm pretty sure if you research this general kind of jacket you would find it fairly readily, and it therefore sells itself. Removing or changing the yellow color would be an aesthetic improvement, and the bolt should suffice. It's not bad when you don't notice, but if it's pointed out once it's like a mustard stain that you can't help but notice. The other thing the 6 square inch logo does is obscure the place for a right chest-pocket mirroring the other. A phone and wallet are most secure in the chest pocket for running, and for now its a choice. Finally there seems a difference between the windproof-ness of the neoprene sleeve areas and the fleece parts. If the fleece extended under the neoprene, it might be suitable for truly cold conditions. Thickening the fabric is another option. If this jacket worked down to 5*F, I'd def pay a bit more and feel better about the purchase as well. After all, there are large vents in it, and since it's basically the most expensive fleece windjacket already, it might as well go all the way.

The jacket is truly comfortable, and before I reviewed it I decided to try it on shirtless, and sure enough I forgot I'm still wearing it. It's also cut well for a more active build. I have a 29" waist and broader shoulders so normally regular walmart-like clothes and jackets look like curtains on me, and this seems custom tailored by comparison. I hope this trend continues because I wouldn't miss another 4" around the waist area. I will say the Medium size fits PERFECTLY my arms and shoulders (6ft wingspan). The chamois neck is somewhat of guilty pleasure because I would never admit I needed it, even to myself, but having it is noticeably luxurious.

Overall, if you're looking for a jacket to wear when leaving your front door during winter for any length of time, this will have you covered for 90%+ of the winter. If you prefer things like a hood, I have the newfound confidence to also recommend the similar Mtn Hardwear Transition jacket, and surprise, no yellow logo.

This is my second Mountain Hardware jacket like this one, the first one is still in good shape just a little beat up its almost 10 yrs old! The price was great too almost 50% less than other retailers selling the same item. A great buy!
